چکیده
A public information system with an Embodied Conversational Agent is evaluated in a laboratory setting concerning Social Actorship, Social Acceptance, perceived Control, Pragmatic Quality and Hedonic Qualities. Results show a positive experience for Pragmatic Quality and Control, but negative ratings for Social Acceptance. Differentiating these various aspects of User Experience has proven to be fruitful for this summative evaluation, especially considering the potential public situation of interaction.

Affective Feedback from Computers and its Effect on Perceived Ability and Affect: A Test of the Computers as Social Actor Hypothesis
We report an experimental study that examined two questions: (a) The effect of affective feedback from computers on participants' motivation and self-perception of ability; and (b) whether people respond similarly to computer feedback as they do to human feedback. This study, framed within the Computers As Social Actors (CASA) framework, essentially replicated a prior study on human-human inter...
متن کاملDifferences in perceptions of communication quality between a Twitterbot and human agent for information seeking and learning
Twitter’s design allows the implementation of automated programs that can submit tweets, interact with others, and generate content based on algorithms. Scholars and end-users alike refer to these programs to as “Twitterbots.” This two-part study explores the differences in perceptions of communication quality between a human agent and a Twitterbot in the areas of cognitive elaboration, informa...
متن کاملCriticism or Praise? The Impact of Verbal versus Text-Only Computer Feedback on Social Presence, Intrinsic Motivation, and Recall
The Computers Are Social Actors (CASA) paradigm asserts that human computer users interact socially with computers, and has provided extensive evidence that this is the case. In this experiment (n = 134), participants received either praise or criticism from a computer. Independent variables were the direction feedback (praise or criticism), and voice channel (verbal or text-only). Dependent va...
